Scientists
and citizens from all over the world are devising new means to investigate
and respond to changing patterns of climate in a wide variety of locations
around the globe. In some cases new floods and extreme weather events
are dominating local concern. In other areas unprecedented drought
is causing crop damage and increasing vulnerability to massive forest
fires, while in many coastal regions people are anxious about rising
sea level.
The exchange of reliable and timely scientific information about the
scale and scope of climate change is vital for the formulation of effective
public policy. In addition, policy makers need to become informed about
the human impact of the changing climate regime -- both for their own
local constituencies and for the wider world.
The Climate Research Exchange is an inter-university
and international platform created by The Climate Talks
Project. The purpose of the Exchange
is to employ the Internet and streaming digital technology to share
news, views and research on scientific and public policy issues concerning
global climate change. Participating individuals and institutions from
around the world are encouraged to submit appropriate material for the
Exchange's growing database of documentation and multimedia
resources on climate change and public policy.
